Menial jobs in london are filled very quickly because you dont' need to speak English to do these jobs. Therefore they get filled up very quickly by the immigrant population (polish, croation etc.). You could expect minimum wage with little prospect of promotion. Menial jobs tend to pay less than the rest of the UK whereas skilled jobs in London pay more than the rest of the UK.
