Hey Court,

In the first year after the Mayflower arrived, 50% of the people died from starvation or weather. From then on, they knew they had to plan ahead. Firewood stockpiled, holes in the cabins plugged. Dried food stored enough to take them through a hard winter, and they hunted for meat all year.

Knowing that they were stuck inside, they would repair tools, prepare hides, use their looms, make clothes, etc.

I guess the SAD (dark winter illness) would be high.

America began as colonies of England, France, Spain, and the Netherlands. The story of America as a nation must begin with the colonization of the East Coast.
