I know its extremely unprofessional to reneg on an offer but some unforeseen events have occured during my two week notice to start my new job. How should i approach this situation? I must withdraw my acceptance but I don't know how.I'm not accepting another offer but I need to move to another state due to personal reasons? Does anyone know what to say and how to format a letter to the company and will this hurt me when I go back in the job market?

I would write a very apologetic letter to the head of human resources and simply state due to unforeseen personal circumstances I cannot accept this position at this time. You don't need to state any more reason than this but you may want to add that you are moving out of the area. Use the standard business format:

Date

Name and Address

Name and Address of recipient

Dear Mr or Ms Soandso:

I regret that.....

Thank you for considering me for this position and if I would like to be able to contact your company in the future.

Very Truly Yours:

Name

I wouldn't write to them, I'd call them. I know it's harder to do it "live" on the phone, but time could be of the essence, in terms of them finding a replacement for you. They may have to start the recruitment process from scratch, if they did not have another qualified applicant.
Just say, unfortunately your situation has changed, you are moving away from the area, and will be unable to fill the position you accepted.
It can't really hurt you- since you never intend to work there, at least for the short term. If you do it by phone, they may be less likely to hold a grudge, and you may even be able to reapply for a position with them in the future if your living arrangements change.
