A few years ago i could walk into the Gap and leave with a whole bunch of shopping bags. Now the clothing especially for women is horrible looking, it looks like a thrift store.

My opinion is that Gap clothing has been going downhill for a long time....not to mention I dont know anyone anymore that Gap clothes actaully fit well for.

I work there currently, so I see the clothing on a regular basis. I think that their clothing is still good. We have some amazing cashmere sweaters and we still sell an amazing dress pant. Their focus has gone a bit more toward hoodies and shirts, which isn't what they are known for, but you can still find some great things.

I know that right now, those skinny jeans are in, but I think they look terrible. And some of the designs we have look straight from the 80's, which is awful. But I think the Gap still has other great pieces of clothing. And you have to remember, Gap doesn't try to sell to the teens and early 20's audience. They are mostly a store that appeals to people in their mid to late 20's and 30's. We sell a lot of basic clothing pieces so you can have a good wardrobe to build on.

Also, to a person who responded about the Red product...they give 50% of all profits on Red products to the charity. And sure, they could just write a check, but so could any business that sells Breast Cancer pins. They wanted a way to get the public involved in it.

Yes, it has gone downhill a lot, but I guess they figure that people will purchase their clothes for the label.
I have noticed that it is not only them, there are a few other stores who use to be top notch, that have gone down, so sad, I talk to many people who go shopping for something to wear, and they say there is nothing out there they like.

Yes! I was noticing that last weekend when I passed a Gap store- just looking in there, i used to get excited because of all the colors and nice looking fabrics. now it's like...eh so so. It's hard, too, to find stuff that fits properly. Even their "long" lengths are not even CLOSE to being long enough on me. Granted, I have long legs, but i've heard similar comments from friends that do not have long inseams!

The men's section is no better. I can't find any clothes that look good.
Also the Gap's "Red" campaign is just a shrill way to get us to buy more crap for them. If they really care about AIDS in Africa the Gap should just write a check. How much money do you think is REALLY going to that charity and how much is going to Gap's share holders?

Its been going downhill for a long time. I never shop there anymore. Especially since that Audrey Hepburn commercial that came out about a month ago. Poor judgement on their part.

I agree with Courtney, they target a different age group, and I just bought a coat there 1 week ago and It's nice, I love it. Customer Service (staff ) is excellent too, very helpful.

I like clothes that are not too hip, I prefer the classic look. Iam not a teenager anymore lol! thats why.

But I have to say most of their jeans styles doesnt look nice, old style.

GAP is still good in my opinion.

I agree! I go to the Gap online store. I just don't like the stuff anymore.

No I agree with you. I used to be an avid shopper or Gap and now I can't stand that place. However their counterparts Old Navy and esp. Banana Republic seem to be doing very well.
Check them out.
