I would think anybody 'd feel cocky and sure next to that **** edmunds !

It's because they're all incredibly stupid. It's amazing how anyone can go on that show and think that they have any influence on the outcome. How can it be a skill to randomly choose one box out of 25? Do they really think that if they choose box 3 instead of box 4 they have a better chance of winning the prize? I would love someone to go on that show and just go around the circle in order.
Also why do they think there's really such a person as the banker? It's obviously just the producer who reads out the deal value from the computer, which calculates it based on a table of probabilities. All that banter Edmonds does is quite clearly him ad-libbing.

Standing against Noel Edmonds you'd probably start feeling pretty tough too.
Consider that even if they go home with the 1p prize, its through no fault of their own - its not like the game takes skill at all!
We saw the TV advert for the DVD game today, and had to wonder how boring that could be.

because when they first come to the table they think they are the ones who are going to win a large amount of money so they get cocky.its when they don't as the end the show their vulnerability.
