I was thinking about some of the old cartoons that used to come on back in the day. Am I the only one that noticed that Peppermint Patty from the Charlie Brown show was a lesbian? Come on, remember that one chick used to call her "Sir" all the time. And every body knows that Shaggy from the scooby-do show was high as hell, right? Why else would his eyes be so low, and why else would he be eating scooby snacks?

Well, I hate to burst hopee's bubble, but Peppermint Patty from the Charlie Brown/Peanuts gang WAS in fact gay, and the other gilr that called her "Sir" did grow up to be her lover. For Shaggy, on the other hand, look for music downloads called "Shaggy reveals all" or "Shaggy and Scooby speak out" or some such - it tells how Shaggy and Scooby were always smoking (mary), how Daphne and Velma were into each other, and Fred was gay.

I'm surprised your just now askin this. Shaggy's been in and out of rehab ever since Scooby Doo started becoming popular. And Peppermint Patty finally saved up enough for that operation. He prefers to be called Pepperoni Patrick now

Peppermint Patty sounded pretty manish, but she was a cool friend to Chuck. And Shaggy was so toasted, he must have had a good supplier with only the best stuff.

Oh PLEASE! We are so quick in this day and age to go back in time, labeling childhood pleasures, upstanding icons and wholesome entertainment with the same labels we use in today's society. We think that if we search hard enough, we can find some hidden meaning, some agenda locked away, offering justification for how we choose to live our lives in this day and age. When it comes to the cartoons you mentioned, I don't believe for one second that the authors a/o artists had some devious or secret plot to showcase those particular lifestyles within their work. Charlie Brown and Scooby Doo were simply children's cartoons, nothing more, and were meant for our enjoyment and our laughter. To place Freudian labels upon them, to seek to find somthing deeper and darker, is doing the artists, the creators and that generation a huge disservice. After all, even Freud knew that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

You are right on both accounts but when those shows were made America wasnt able to talk about closet issues unless the were daring to say no to drugs

No, I don't think she was gay, but I did wonder why would they call her Sir? They were just children, weren't they?
