UV light will destroy it

A virus and its DNA can be easily destroyed. The problem arises when the virus has taken over a host cell. If you try to destroy the virus attached to the host cell using a drug or UV, you would also kill the cell itself and damage cells around it. This is why it is so hard to treat viral infections.

This is a fundamental medical question. There are ways that are all unconventional (volatile chemicals, UV, ...). But none that destroy the virus dna in another organism. There are a few drugs that keep it from replicating though.
