Respect their differences. I'm sure there are many things you DO have in common. Use them to grow the friendship/relationship...

There's nothing I can do. They're entitled to their beliefs just as I'm entitled to mine. There's no reason they should have to agree with me. If I find myself getting agitated or bothered by the disagreement, I can always change the subject or walk away. If they choose to attack my belief system and persist with theirs and try to bully me into agreeing, I can make the choice not to speak to that person anymore. If it's going to be that big a deal to them, they're probably not going to ever respect my differences and treat my opinion as equal, so why waste my time?

Well, it does not depend only on the contrariety itself. It also depends on the situation, and this depends on the nature of the disagreement (political, teological, practical...) and the concrete conditions where I and my interlocutar find ourselves.
So, firstly what I would do is: consider the difference; secondly: evaluate this difference, bringing its features...; and thirdly (and only here) I would react (in other words: do something).
That's it.
Have a nice day.

I listen and consider the others viewpoint. You never know what the other person believes, and the way they convey their beliefs, may give me a different outlook. All the great thinkers are open-minded people.
