You'll probably want to gain a lot of experience in these areas because most places you can't practice individualized therapy and claim to be a legal therapist without a liscence which requires a completed psychology degree of some variation. You can still be a therapist you just have to make it known that you have no educational degree. If you are trying to be a therapist under a practition which requires you to have a degree, you want to gain experience first in groups like alcoholics or narcotics annonymous. Maybe running groups at prisons...Experience is key the more you have, the better chance you will get to be hired by a practition. I hear its best to combine field work along with your education.

Improved spelling and grammar skills? ;-)
Depends on what kind of "counselor" you're talking about. Some counselor jobs require just a certification from taking certain courses. Some require a full-blown psychology degree and psychologist licensing. Most "school counselor" jobs require an education degree and perhaps a few psychology courses.

I'd say first take some writing classes to improve your spelling and grammar.
What type of counselor do you want to be? Who do you want to help? Are you in a specific educational program that will guide you to where you want to go? Are you working on an Associates/ Bachelor's/Master's in Psychology?

well; first you need to learn how to spell. Then, what kind of counseling are you wanting to do? You should try sitting in on group sessions.

most councilors were molested or abused as kids so that's always a good start, they like to council to validate their life and to see that they don't have it so bad, it's all rather sick and twisted, so good luck with that.
