I know the history of the Anglican Church and that it's similar to Catholicism and I know they consider themselves protestants. But do you think Anglicanism is basically a branch of Catholicism kind of like Greek Orthodox is, or do you think it's faith all to itself, not being Catholic nor Protestant? Or do you think it's protestant?

Theologically and liturgically, the Anglican Church is the closest to Roman Catholicism of all the Protestant denominations. A relatively high proportion of its members convert comfortably to Catholicism in later life, and there are many notable examples; Cardinal Newman in the 19th century, and Ronald Knox (who was the son of an Anglican clergyman) in the 20th.

The Anglican church offers a beautiful form of worship which is similar to, but not the same as, the Catholic church and which appeals to many non-Catholic worshppers. There are so many versions of protestantism that it would be hard to categorize any non-Catholic Christian church as not being protestant to some degree.

Definitely protestant although significant numbers of its members have absorbed certain Catholic doctrines over the centuries. It can't be considered a branch of the Catholic Church as the Catholic Church cannot recognise the validity of Anglican holy orders (see Apostolicae curae - Leo XIII).

As a point of note, I don't think any of the branches of Eastern Orthodoxy see themselves as a branch of the Catholic Church; they envision themselves as sister Churches.

the high Anglican church (like the high Lutheran church) has a lot of similarities to Catholicism, but it is still protestant.
