I agree that other than big ten teams they have played no one and the teams from the big ten they did play aren't that good other than Michigan, who has you said PASTED the irish. I think they get too much credit based on their history, Personally I think West Virginia, Rutgers, Wisconsin and LSu should all be ranked above the Irish. It will settle itself though once USC gives them a beat down in two weeks.

Over-rated, over-hyped, you call it. They submit reliable numbers hostile to crap faculties (military, Stanford, etc.) and get inflated ratings. No different college taking area of their schedule would get ranked almost as severe, yet only because it is "the Irish" they are contained in the great 15 or excellent 10 or in spite of after a rousing beatdown of the Air rigidity academy. All this has really gotten worse when you consider that Jabba the Hut aka Charlie Weis took over. look at very last season, through the time they performed military in course of the great of November they were ranked sixth. sixth!!!! the really excellent 20 crew that they had overwhelmed replaced right into a roughed up Penn State crew that spent the season underachieving. same tale each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. Then they are going to run right into a reputable crew, and get mowed over. Apologies to the Notre Dame committed, you've were given an magnificent football custom, although that's so authentic.

We didn't move up to 5th because we beat AF.
We moved up to 5th because of the high ranking teams that lost this week. There have been some great, close games this year and except for that one pitiful loss, we have fought hard a few times. I can't help that higher ranked teams got beat by unranked nobodies and that moved us up. Hey, like the saying goes, a win is a win.
I am a ND fan.
I agree that the schedule is too easy. Would I like to see them play more big 10 teams? Heck yes!!!!
Am I skeered for the USC game? You had better freakin believe it.
Do I have the utmost faith that they will come out and play their best? Darn straight!!!!!
If they beat USC, it will be interesting to see what happens.

I would agree. The beat an unranked Air Force team and moved up 4 spots...unbelievable. Personally I wouldn't put them even in the top 10 but you have to remember the bowl games are about money....for the schools, for the NCAA, and the advertisers...and Notre Dame would attract advertisers.

Notre Dame beat Georgia Tech, at Georgia Tech, in their first game. Also, they will play USC in two weeks. Those games, combined with their game against Michigan, means their schedule is respectable this year.
Also, they have been hit several times this year. For example, they dropped after BEATING MSU and UCLA. Also, they dropped during their off week. So, I think the pollsters and the computers have already accounted for their schedule, and the fifth place ranking is justified at this point. Of course, it will all come down to their final game against USC.

I think a lot of these rankings are done intentionaly in order to help out the Broadcasting companies. A high ranked ND versus an over rated USC will be good tv for NBC and bring in some big TV ratings.....EASIER TO SELL. Just like number 1 Ohio State and 2 Michigan....who has MI beat to earn that ranking....or are they just setting up TV hype for this weekend?

Because they can beat up on poor teams like Airforce, Navy, and North Carolina(who has only one 1 game by the way.) That's why.

The same logic that puts USC at 3 put Notre Dame at 5. It is the BCS.

this year has been the upset by the little unranked guy year. it almost happened to you guys. it almost happened to ohio state with illinois. it has happened to most of the one loss teams this year, except for ND. and you guys got a gift moving up so far after beating us so quit complaining.

I agree that they suck! Their fans are spoiled babies that cry because their little game was not on TV last week. Don't worry, there are more *** kickings coming their way.
