I was just given two older chairs. They are very nice looking and in good condition. But they are white. I have pets and guests and I know they will never stay clean. I would like to dye them burgundy but can't find any instructions on how.

There are specific products to accomplish this you would purchase them at a fabric store, a DIY shop or on line. The product will come with all the instructions you need to get the look you want. I would recommend one with a propellant rather than a squirt type as it tends to make a splotchy finish. Take your time and work outside on a warm calm day or in a well ventilated basement or garage. Good Luck!

buy some Dylon washing dye( used in your washing machine)but it might be worth askingYou have to weigh your covers to work out how much dye to use and add a certain ammount of salt. I dyed covers off a three piece suite.by the instructions and they came out great. you have to remember to choose the right colour if you fabric is already coloured- yours is not so the burgundy should work. Check the instructions carefully as some fabrics do not dye well.If you are in doubt there is a help phone number for any advice you may need.......Did you know that some dry cleaners will dye upholstery fabrics?

Why not find some burgundy fabric you like and simply reupholster the chairs. You'd have to remove the fabric to dye it anyway, and if you recondition the chairs they'll be in even better shape than they are now.
