think it might be 3 or 4. when your period starts you count that as day one and then on day 14 you should start ovulating - that's when you'll get pregnant. you can buy ovulating kits form the chemist. they look like pregnancy tests and you use them the same way. it's a lot easier than trying to work out your temperature. good luck and have fun trying.

No it is not true, your chances are higher 1-3 days during the month but you can get pregnant anytime. Rhythm method is based on this theory, and that method certainly isn't the best birth control.
If you are trying to get pregnant, just have sex 2-3 times a week
if you do not get pregnant within the year see your GP

Emma...your soooooo dumb!!
Yes you are ONLY fertile 24-48 hours PER cycle!! The egg is released and 24 hours later is gone...in SOME rare cases you release 2 EGGS and thats where the 48 hours comes into play. Healthy sperm can last up to 5day's!
I reccomend a great book called..Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler ($25 @ your local bookstore) the best way to tell if you are "fertile" is your WETTEST day of your cycle!(you C.M is very wet and slippery) Have sex during the day if possible! Also chart your BBT (basal body temp...Walgreen's has the thermometer for $10) When it RISES you O the day before! Keep track and the following month you should be good to go, but like I said...GET THE BOOK (my friend is currently 10 weeks pregnant using this book...for 2month's!) you ONLY have a 20% chance the first month!!
Good luck!!
**after reading some of these other answer's...R U PPL CRAZY! Anytime of the month...whatever! I reccomend EVERYONE read this book (it helps you to conceive and NOT conceive if wanted!) I read this book with my friend and it explains EVERYTHING about your cycle to you!! I learned thing's I thought I knew!! And if you have a "regular" 28 day cycle your fetile day is cycle day 13-16! (it's 14 days BEFORE you next period, NOT 14 days AFTER like evryone thinks! And count day period begins as cycle day 1!) But NOT everyone is "regular" My friend isn't and she is a walking pregnant example!!
BTW....I reccomend the website called...yourdays.com
You can chart your temp, your C.M, your "sex" day's...everything and it tell's you when you WILL be fertile and when you wont be!

You should try 14 days after the first day of your last period as this is when you are most fertile. When we decided to try for a baby we just went at it like rabbits for about a month and got pregnant straight away!!

actually it's about 2 to 3 days..and you won't know what day you will be ovulating..so what i suggest is go get a thermometer for tryingt to get pregnant..you can get it at any drug store and chart down your temp first thing in the morning before you get out of bed. that way you will know when you are ovulating and you could try..that's what i did and i was 42! and got pregant in the first try...

yes its usually one day in a monthly cycle the day you ovulate. Usually if you have a 28 day cycle it is gonna be day 11-14 so its best to get an ovulation kit so you can work out the best day to try to conceive.
You can buy ovulation predicter kits from the chemist or boots etc
Good luck xx

no its not true... if it was there would be less unwanted pregnancies...
there are 3 days when your lightly hood is much higher to get pregnant, and also a mans sperm "can" live about 3 days inside a warm moist woman's body.... so that in effect can make 6 days where your more lightly.... also if the woman doesn't have perfect regular periods, then who knows when those 3 days are going to be.....
just keep trying / practising... play the No's game, ... Quantity not Quality..... for a while...
good luck x

you can get pregnant anytime of the month but you are more likely to get pregnant when your ovulating, between 14-16 days after your period, try an ovulating kit there about £20 from boots and good luck

Yes. You are only fertile in the very few days surrounding your ovulation, which happens somewhere mid-cycle.
Chart your cycle. Watch your first morning temperature, watch for any changes in your vaginal area (you get wetter when fertile).
Good luck!
