These days it is very common for background checks to be done along with credit & reference checks for rentals. Especially after 9/11 happened! It was found out after the WTC attacks that some of the terrorists had rented apartments & lived in them while training & planning the attacks. So you'll find landlords cracking down on that now because no one wants to be the person that rented to the next "mad bomber", you know? Most apartment communities are required to do them because of their managment company's policies. Private landlords can choose to do them or not do them as they like usually. You didn't say which state you're looking to rent in (assuming it is the U.S.) so I am not sure of the local laws. Some places might be required to perform background checks by law. Check with your local housing authority and search google for tenant's rights for the desired state of residence.

this is going to harm your condo opportunities, although,Im unsure it is going to take place on your checklist merely yet. If i replaced into staring at a offender checklist that had a family contributors battery fee on it,i does not approve the applying out of concerns that there could be problems on my sources. each little thing you do impacts your opportunities.even though it ultimatly comes right down to how strict the owner is with their infomation.we are very strict, one reason we are waiting to maintain an excellent complicated, some ought to care much less ,yet one extra reason we are waiting to stay totally occupied. Oh and for the guy who thinks misdemeanors do no longer take place on comments, sure they do.something you have been convicted for will take place in spite of wether it is a legal or a misdemeanor.it is going to additionally prepare the disposition (consequence) of the fee besides. family contributors battery could in elementary terms be a misdemeanor even though it can be a purple flag to me that there are some violence themes and that i could deny the applying. you may get via with it this time on account which you have no longer be convicted etc.
