Respectfully ask the coach for a private appointment and ask him if he can tell you why he didn't make the cut.

Ask him for pointers, tips, help and if you can still participate in practices as you would like to improve so that you are maybe played later int he season.

I presume that you are talking about not making the varsity. If this is your first time to ever try out for the team, maybe you should ask about a tryout for the JV instead. What about your grades? Are they excellent or are you "barely scraping by"? Ever been in trouble in any of your classes on a REGULAR basis? Coaches look at more than just ability when choosing players to coach. Ask him what kept you off the squad but be WILLING to accept the fact that you may not be the type of player that he is looking to coach.

Go to the coach and ask him what you need to work on in order to make the team next year. Then, ask him if you can still stay involved with the team this year. Try to get a position as a manager or scorekeeper. This keeps you in contact with the team and lets the coach get to know you. It also shows your commitment to the team. A lot of times, if extra players are needed to dress out, coaches will ask the managers (if, of course, the managers can play ball.)

Did you make the Freshman team? If so, were you a selfish player or maybe the coach just doesn't like you. When I played in high school our PG got in the coaches dog house and we went on to lost 80% of our games. Sometimes coaches overlook the intangibles and want to just select athletic players who can play defense which is usually a good way to win in high school. Also, how many players were supposed to make the team? If 12 were supposed to make it and there is 11 on the list then maybe he did forget to put your name on the list.

i feel you can go talk to the coach and ask what you should work on so that you could make the team next year??...then this will call attention to his choice of leaving you off the team and that you really want to be one the team and are willing to go above and beyond so to speak!!! He might reconsider or something? If not them next year you will be even better!!!! Good luck and don't give up!!!

the coach didn't forget to put your name on the list you didn't make the team either because you're not as good as you think you are and need to step your game up and improve or if you are as good as you say you are then your grades are not so good in which case you need to hit the books hard and get better grades but approach him and find out why you didn't make the team

Don't be cocky- just go to him and ask him why you weren't on the list and what you should do to make it next year. This will show him that your willing to learn and can take defeat like a man

Well i think you should go talk to him, and say " i noticed my name isn't on the list" and see how it goes from there. It'll at least end all your thoughts, that way either he'll be like oh are you sure?? let me put you on, or yeah sorry kid i did it on purpose, and you can go on from there.

It appears to me that you have an attitude problem. I wouldn't want you on my team unless it was a whining team. You seem to be doing very well at that.
