f the doctor couldnt find your babys hearbeat at what you thought was 8 weeks pregnant but they said the fetus is only the size of a 6 week and you have to go back in 10 days would you be concerned or could this be that the heart is undetectable at the moment?

Don't be concerened, that is why they don't do scans until at least 12 weeks normally as it is impossible to detect. The baby is so small at this stage. If the Dr was concerned they would have sent you in to the hospital. I'm sure eveything will be fine when you go back, don't stress about it as I'm sure you know how bad that is for the baby. Relax.

Having the experience of being pregnant 5 different times and carrying all five to full term, sometimes the baby is positioned in such a way for the heartbeat not to be detected that early. The doctors always like to hear the heartbeat at the earliest time that they can, to monitor it. At this point, I would not worry. It has happened in 2 of my 5 pregnancies. Both times they could not hear the heartbeat until at least 2 or 3 weeks later. Hope this helps to put your mind at ease. Congratulations on your baby!

There is absolutely NOTHING to be worried about. There are a lot of reasons why you wouldn't be able to hear the heartbeat this early. That baby is SOOOO small right now, and so deep inside muscle, fat, etc.
They are going to try again the next time you go in. That is perfectly normal. I have had three babies, and I can tell you that it's happened that way each time for me. They will use the Doppler and/or ultrasound to get sound or visualization of the heart, just to make sure that everything is progressing normally.
God Bless!

Yes, it is normal. Calm down and be patient. It was probably just too early to detect. It is also very common to not be as far along as you thought. At 6 weeks or even at 8 weeks, the baby is not even considered a fetus yet...it is an embryo. That early on, as long as there is a sac and there is someting in it...just be patient.
Try not to panic as stress will only make matters worse.
Good luck and Congratulations!

No its very normal. Nothing to be concerned about. He's trying to find the heartbeat of a baby thats about the size of a grain of rice.
Alot of times it takes until about 9-10 weeks to be able to hear the heartbeat with an external doppler. Even longer if the placenta is infront.
Also, its quite possible (especially without an ultrasound to confirm) that your not quite as pregnant as you thought. It happens a lot.

This was on an ultrasound right? I would be a bit concerned only because I have had an ultrasound at 8 weeks with my twins and we saw both heartbeats, they did the U.S. because doppler doesnt hear heartbeats well until about 12 weeks. You should have seen something If it was an u.s. did you see movement of the fetus? I know they look like jellybeans at this point but you should have seen some mov't.

It's very normal. About 10 - 12 weeks is when they'll be able to hear it at each appointment. I've herd the baby's heartbeat at 6 weeks (via ultrasound) but my doctor appointment on Friday (almost 9 weeks) we couldn't find it.
It's very nomral. My friend even told me not to worry, they couldn't find her son's heartbeat right away and he's 7 years old now!
Good Luck!

Well my doctor told me that you couldn't really hear the baby's heart beat until you are about 10 weeks along..i wouldn't be to concerened yet..don't stress your self out about it cause that also stresses out the baby..my neighbour was a tiny girl when she got pregnant and the doctor told her the same thing and she had a healtly 7 pound baby girl, so I don't think that you have anythign to worry about yet..some babies just take longer to develop. and u might only be sex weeks pregant so don't stress out ok..
Keep calm and positve and everything will be fine

I would be very concerned, but you are right it could be that the doctor was unable to detect the baby's heartbeat due to it size and where it was in the womb. Try not to worry.

you might have had your dates mixed up but at 6 weeks your baby is just starting to form her heart so everything should be fine... just wait till 10 days but as long as the baby is there then your fine + no blood or pain..
good luck
