Seriously? If someone today said that they were pregnant, as a virgin with the son of God, would you take her seriously? I know you wouldn't, so why do people pour so much faith into a lie that happened that long ago? Do you think people believed her then? I don't understand how people can be so naive!

Hehehehe that's a good question... I think back then people put a lot more belief into miracles just to explain things they didn't understand, or to cover up some great wrong or mistake. I think Mary was probably raped by a Roman soldier or something and the miracle thing was the only thing she could do to save face and show her faith at the same time. The same with Noah's Ark... how in the hell could you really get all those animals on a boat that big and still have the damn thing float. Especially with the crude technology back then. Biologically, it's impossible because all the animals would be so inbred. Really, people would be too what with the whole Adam and Eve thing. So to me, people that insist on adamantly believing word-for-word such an old document like the Bible are more close-minded than Atheists. I think people pour faith into things like that because they want so badly to believe in something they feel that strongly about, and they think it puts them spiritually above others who don't.

I don't know why they believed it then, but I heard a story about a pregnant virgin a few years ago. She didn't do the whoe "son of god" thing, but she claimed a "mysterious" pregnancyand when they tested her, she was a virgin. But it turned out that she'd gotten some guy to jack off into her and she got pregnant to make money off the publicity.

If you want to hash out 'legends', there are plenty that are more outlandish, on the surface.

I don't have a problem believing because of prophecy that, as a collection, has all come true. Wait until you see more earthquakes in places that never had them. Or spectacles in the sky that have never been witnessed in recorded history. Look, if you don't believe in God, just live your life as you want to. No one is going to stop you. Might as well have all the fun you can now, huh? After you're dead, time will tell.

I think people believed Mary back then because they didn't have all the sex and corruption that we have no a days. It wasnt like every girl in the world back then slept around, used a pill or condom etc to have "safe" sex with who ever they wanted.

ANd for your information my friend got pregnant and never had sex, it was proven by her doctor, her hymen was still intact, she got pregnant from letting a guy do his business himself on to her, and she was naked and well some went swimming I guess.

Pregnant women do not want to get into a religious debat with you. Take your question to the Religion forum. May God grace you in your time of need.

It has been proven that Mary had other children. So obviously she was not a virgin. Also, if she was married than the marriage would have been consimated(don't know how to spell) so there is no way she was a virgin.

Nobody believed her either. An angel had to appear to her husband to tell him what happened, or it would have never worked back then either. So, if you ever immaculately conceive, hope that God sends an angel so that you aren't called a liar!
