Having an engagement ring tells OTHER GUYS that you are taken. Then he doesnt have to worry about any guys trying to make a move on you. That should convince him! Also, its a tradition... many people will not take your relationship seriously until they see you have spent the money to buy a ring. It says you are in this for the long haul.

A promise made privately is more easily broken than one made publicly. If you two are truly committed to each other, all it does is to tell the world, and hopefully keep single people from hitting on you two. Do you feel like the two of you could break up if something changes in your situation, or do you feel married? If you both think you are married, you don't need a ring. If it doesn't feel that way, get your relationship out of the closet and tell the world you two are together forever. (I think he's just scared of forever.)

There are a few ways of looking at what a ring signifies. One way is it is an outward expression of an inner feeling. It is a way to show the world that you are committed to another. Another is that a ring of gold, like love, will never tarnish, and with it being a circle, it shows that there is no end to your love.

Why does the ring need to show the commitment?? As stated - they have commited and professed their love. He is asking a relaistic question. One that can be answered only by you. What does the ring mean to you????

This ring represents a alliance for respect, trustworthy, dignity, responsibilities,...; to be more specific, he gave you the key of his heart. You have opportunity to improve your life in a better way... However, do not forget that we live in another world now, some people take it or turn it out to be worst...!

Sound like he really does not want to get married. The significance of a ring is that you are promised to someone already and it keeps the dogs from sniffing around. tell him that one and see what he says . I promise you it will make him think.good luck and god bless and happy thanksgiving.
