I live in a remote, mountainous area, anyone know how I can find out if service is even available?

I am not sure if i mean satellite, that may be all that is available as cell phone rarely works. I am looking for something faster than our current dial up (run by hamsters) for homeschooling children.

well i live in a remote area as well ... until just recently the only thing available was sattelite internet ... its expensive to settup .. several hundred for installation then about 65/month ... wireless has nothing to do with it ... you get a wireless router and wireless card for ur pc later and hook it up but it will not work on dialup service providers like aol... anyway just google highspeed interenet or dsl providers and use one of the search engines to check ur area ...

On most provider's websites they allow you to put in your address and they will tell you if you can get service or not. Or you can always go the old fashioned way and call them!

You need to identify your area and you can get it through some telecommunication, just try to reach some telecommunication in your area and explain to them but mind you it is costly.
