Well, I am 22 and my hamster died Friday.. I had her for 4 years, and the last 2 weeks she got really sick. I found her Friday night and I burried her, and yes I cried too. It is a part of life and emotions. Don't ever feel foolish to cry, it means you actually have feelings unlike a lot of people in this world. :o) Sorry about your loss!

I'm 29 & have cried over all of the losses I've had. This is a normal reaction for you to have. You have a kind heart & spirit to feel this way. You loved your hamster & cared for him/her. You formed a special bond. When the time is ready, open your heart to another new critter!!

I was about your age when we had our two hamsters, soot and cinders (male and female, both grey). One day while getting ready for school, we noticed one dead, and the other almost dead - they killed each other!!!!! I cried for a couple days, and was baffled over the death of them both.

It's normal to miss a pet, dog, cat, or hamster, especially if it was a pet you've had for years.
Get you another pet - just not a hamster. Get you something that is full of personality!

A pet, regardless of breed or size, is like family. You treasure it and when it is gone it is natural to mourn. You will fell better but for right now you are sad and that's OK. My sister made a little pillow memorial for her parakeet and it made her feel netter. Do something that will help you close the chapter, like donate to an animal shelter in your pets name or make a small marker to sit on a shelf. By performing a final act it helps you move on. Feel better soon.
