In short, The Treo 700p is a true PDA using the Palm Operating system that has a phone attached. It is a true handheld computer that you can program if you so choose. (But few people do).Or you can go to any store that sells software and usually find INEXPENSIVE extra software titles from games to accounting and database applications. with the software INCLUDED in the price, you can fully edit any MS word, excel, or powerpoint file. You can also buy a full fledged database application that will synch with Microsoft Access.

There are also many MANY Free applications that you can download.

The Palm 700w is similar to the 700p. The main difference is it uses the Windows Mobile Operating system and it doesn't have as high a resolution screen. Most people who are familiar with both operating systems feel the Palm OS is easier to learn. I have also read that the 700w has far more crashes than the 700p but I have no first hand knowledge of that.

The Blackberry, the Nokias, the Motorola Q's are considered 'Smart Phones'. They are telephones with Organizer features built in. They often use the PDA like physical design which can cause confusion. Their operating systems are limited and unique to each phone manufacturer. Additonal programs are expensive, limited in nature, and usually available only from the phone manufacturer.

The Motorola Q is a kind of hybrid device, it uses a special truncated version of the Windows Mobile Operating system, SOME programs for standard Windows Mobile OS based devices will work with the Q, but it is extremely limited in that area.

I have a friend who sells phones for a major carrier and she says they get a LOT of Q's returned. People think they are buying a true PDA and are disappointed when it won't do what they want. for about $100 - $150 more you can buy a Treo. It is worth it in my opinion. BUT if you can get by with the built in applications, and are pretty sure you won't out grow those programs, the Smart phones are a good buy.

I think you should seriously consider the Treo 700p

i've got too have been confronted with precisely the comparable determination in the previous week in view that I now could have a telephone able to document advent and the different purposes you indexed above. i've got accomplished lots slightly learn, and your maximum recent comments are fantastically precise. The Treo 800w does have extra valuable specs than the BB Curve 8330. I additionally like the 800w's stand-on my own Wifi. additionally, all of us be attentive to MS working structures dominate. Our technical expert pronounced me that the Treo 800w could extra actual sync with my notebook and our community. sarcastically although, he instructed me could in my view extremely have AND DOES HAVE a Blackberry - sort unknown. So if the Treo 800w is as fraught with as lots difficulty with regard to its use as you point out that's and as i've got amassed from different components, then its "better" specs do not seem to ouweigh its functional use "in the sphere," as you reported. CNET expenses the Curve an 8.0 (staggering) on a scale of one million-10 and the 800 a 7.7 (very sturdy). i've got researched the Blackberry formidable and it variety of feels to be an staggering product. the only difficulty is that it is not yet available by using this service (sprint). once you're in the comparable occupation, then evidently as though the acceptable thank you to bypass is with the Blackberry Curve. If the two BB or Palm releases something new in the arrival months, you may continually think lower back. i'm maximum possibly going to purchase the BB 8330 for now. sturdy success!

My boyfriend is a senior loan officer in the mortgage industry and I know they all just switched to the Q. It was the only one that was compatible with their system at the office.
