I have heard from Discover Health channel, Special Delivery, that seriously over weight (more that 75lbs) can cause alot of problem during labor and your pregnancy, diabetes, heart problems, breathing issues. B/c of this, Dr's recommend C-sections for these patients. I was over weight, but not by much, and I was ok, I think 60 lbs is fine and so will you, best wishes and good luck to you :-)

Any pregnancy is a risk, but even more so if you are overweight. I was overweight with my first baby (probably about 30 pounds) then I gained 53 while pregnant. My dr never once told me I was gaining too much, he said I was doing fine. I never lost any of the baby weight because of laziness and such, and I am trying for another baby (so all in all, I guess I am about 80 pounds overweight this time around) and my dr said although I am TECHNICALLY overweight, I am a healthy person (I am active and I eat very healthy foods, just too much of it). Talk to your dr and see what he or she says.

I was at least that much over weight when I had my children. I am sure that there are increased risks, but if you are generally in good health and get good prenatal care I would think that your risks would not be that high. I have 3 happy healthy boys and had three normal pregnancies and deliveries. My oldest there were some issue but it was because he was wrapped up in his cord. That has nothing to do with weight. Just be careful not to gain to much weight. I only gained about 5-7 pounds each time.

Yes, but it doesn't apply to every pregnancy. Some risks include diabetes, high blood pressure, increased risk of miscarriage and still birth, etc. If possible you could try to lose some weight before you get pregnant, but it's not critical. Perhaps just try to go for walks to keep your energy level up. I've heard that weight doesn't matter too much as long as you're fit and eat healthy.

Also, along with all of the problems already posted there is greater risk to the baby because it is much harder to detect any problems as the ultra sounds are not as clear through the excess fat on the abdominal area.

there are always some risks, whether you are overweight or not. your best bet would be to talk to your doctor to ease your mind. btw..I was overweight with my kids. I had easy pregnancies with all of my kids...not even morning sickness and my blood pressure was perfect the entire time. it all depends on how your body handles the pregnancy. Good Luck!!! =)

Talk to your doctor. You are at a higher risk for many pregnancy complications including gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, high blood pressure, etc

I don't think so. But getting your weight down should make you feel better. You can't do this when pregnant, however.
Think about getting that weight off after the baby.
