It's an amazing phenomenom when it comes to this. Someone that is not someone you would find extremely attractive, but there is something about that person that oozes sexual appeal.
Unfortunately, there aren't many examples of females. Hollywood pretty much makes sure the woman role is played by someone that is pleasant to the eye to the average male. The best example I can think of is "Road Trip". The larger black woman that really skinny kid hooks up with at the fraternity. Even though she isn't my type at all, there was something about her. On a subconscience level, she appears to be nurturing, caring, and knows what she wants (which is extremely attractive).
Men on film though, is a completely different story. There are hordes of men that are not exactly pleasing to the eye, but attain the attraction of women. I have a female friend that just goes goo-goo for John C. Reilly, the senior doctor on "Scrubs". He is not extremely attractive, but some women find him attractive in a sexual way. Another great example is David Carradine from "Kill Bill". Ugly as sin, but his attitude and confidence are outstanding, and alot of women just can't resist. The list can go on and on for men: Steve Buscemi, Jack Nicholson, Nick Cage, Paul Giamati, Jim Carrey, ect.
Damn, that was long...lol.

Edward Norton. I think he's good looking, just not by Hollywood standards, but by normal people standards. He's so intelligent and intense, and there's always this look in his eye. It's hot! Just watch American History X and you'll see what I'm talking about, it's not just the muscles in the film, it's his eyes.

although i could name a few which has already been named..Casper Van Dien from starship trooper and even better looking in Big Spender..although a b rated movie..It doesnt matter what character her plays there is still a part of his real personality the come through every movie he makes
