If you have children less than 18 years of age, do not get involved romantically with another "significant other" until the youngest child attains the age of 18; and in any case do not become romantically involved with a significant other until you have spent no less than 12 months past the divorce becoming reacquainted with yourself. The tendency for us is to want to hook up with someone too soon due to our perceived loneliness. Big mistake. Also, keep in mind that, statistically, a subsequent marriage has an even less chance of success. And in the event you should become romantically involved with someone who has children by a prior union, understand that the priorities in the relationship are not what you might expect or hope for---i.e, you will not be "first".

Aside from getting a good attorney, you might want to consider getting some counseling for yourself to handle the emotional issues of the pending divorce.

Get a good attorney and make sure your "interests" are protected. That doesn't mean you have to be "nasty" during a divorce, just "protected"! Good luck.

Try not to involve lawyers. You can file for dissolution of marriage yourself in most states and save mucho dinero if you and your spouse can agree to division of propety.
