Unfortunately, historical records don't go back far enough. Certainly, if one defines prostitution as merely the exchange of sex for economic benefit, then prostitution most likely started in the Americas long before Europeans arrived; probably as soon as humans moved into the area.

Likely, prostitution developed in America at the same time the colonies were developing. It's the "age old profession".

good question I would say when ameica began to get populated... like cities and stuff. I am sure the pligrims didn't do it, so maybe like around the late 1700's. that's my guess.
