Well, I am a conservative, but my views may differ from most conservatives, but I doubt that they differ very much. I believe in working hard and pursuing a good life. I believe government shouldn't run every aspect of our lives. I abhor abortion, I love God. I don't flaunt my religious beliefs and I feel that religion is a very personal thing. I don't believe in holding minorities down so they are victims to further my political cause. I think everyone should be encouraged to do well. I don't mean to say that everyone has to be "rich" or desire material things...In fact, I am very non-materialistic. I have a wonderful husband and three children, and I have a STRONG belief in stable family life. I kind of suspect, that when it comes right down to it, liberals and conservatives basically want the same things...they just have different views of how it can be obtained.

Lower Federal taxes, especially for the upper 1%, larger State taxes and fees, huge pork spending, larger federal government, and huge government debt. Boy, that's not the way it used to be...

People who don't dress up public policy in mindless emotionalism. People who don't resort to race baiting. People who are content to disagree with the opposition and not destroy them. People who believe in the talent of human beings and not the ablity of government to bail people out of life's difficulties.

You know, ADULTS.

Someone who wants to "conserve" things. Most conservatives are into "small things"--small government, small taxes, and so forth. I think the word conservative has been highjacked by the media to be something that they don't like.

I think that the Republicans in power who call themselves conservatives really aren't and are giving cons a bad name.

With politicians constantly flip-flopping, conservative means nothing to me.

Lately (and with most of my experience of conservatives being on this forum), I'd say the first thoughts to my mind are: close-minded, mean-mouthed oppressors.

That's just my knee jerk reaction, though. . . I know not all conservatives are like that.

Untolerant of anothers views. Thinking they know the right way and want to force their outdated beliefs on everyone.
