Sony make a video recorder with a 160Gb hard drive and DVD. This also has the advantage that it can be used as a Recorder for the TV. The RDR-HX525 is one such item and is available from Amazon at just over £200. It will record straight on to DVD +r/RW and -R/RW from the inputs on your camcorder. Alternatively, you need to use a video editing programme such as Studio 10, with a suitable input device such as Pinnacle's 500 USB with which they usually supply the Studio programme.

You need software that converts avi or mpeg files to DVD format. I use T Mpeg Encoder myself, but there's plenty out there.
Versions of Nero etc that came with your burner won't do it, as you need to pay for an upgrade to convert to DVD.
It can take a few hours to finish, then you just burn the DVD folers to a disc.
