My 4 month old baby just slept 9 and 1/2 hours through the night. She woke up at 8 am this morning, i changed her and breastfed her. She played for a few minutes then fussed to go back to sleep. She feel asleep at 10 am and it is now 10:30.(shes still sleeping soundly) She never has slept like this in her 4 months of life. She hasent taken a nap like this in a long long time. Since she was born maybe. Could this be a growth spurt that she is going through? Please dont give any rude remarks this is a legit. question. thanks!

She could be growing, or cutting teeth, or coming down with a little bug. At that age my kids would sleep 10 hours at night and take 3 two hr naps. Babies have a lot of growing to do and need the sleep to function.

My 15 month old still sleeps a lot. He goes to bed at 7 pm, wakes at 7 am, and is asking for a nap by 8:30 am. He has lunch at 12pm and asks for another nap by 1pm, wakes around 3:30 and we start all over again with 7:00 bedtime.

If it is unusual for her, just watch her to be sure she is not getting sick. Otherwise, take advantage of her sleeping to get some things done or take a nap yourself.

Babies that age can be sleeping anywhere from 12-16 hours so the amount of sleep she is getting is not so unusual, actually if that's all she getting plus a litle nap it's not enough sleep. But yes, I think she is going through a growth spurt. Always remember though - sleep begets sleep. The earlier you put her to bed the longer she will sleep. At her age she should be going to bed like 7:00pm and sleeping til about 7:00 am (not necessarily straight through)

Be thankful she wants to sleep! As long as the napping during the day doesn't interfere with her sleeping through the night, I wouldn't worry about it. Babies change their sleeping patterns and habits quite frequently. Just when you thought you had it all figured out, they will go and change it on you! A 4 month old baby should be getting roughly 15 hours of sleep per day, give or take.

Babies sleep patterns change, they sleep 8 or 9 hours one day then 2 or 3 the next, i was worried when my little boy was sleeping more then he use to, but the health nurse explained to me that when babies get older they tire out more also their sleeping pattern will change as they get older, if you are really that worried go and see your doctor or midwife!

babies grow in their sleep and at 4 months there usually is a growth spurt. she's fine, but if you think she's sick call her doctor.

Don't worry she's probably just growing. Remember everything is still developing :)
