Invest in some ear plugs (the foam type). I used them on my flight from Australia, as well as using noise-cancelling headphones, and it was so silent!! Maybe spending £130 on noise cancelling headphones is a bit much, but a few quid on ear plugs might do the trick

Use earplugs. There are different grades, depending on how much sound you want to protect against. If it's just office noise, normal plugs should work.

Playing music will not only drown out noise, but sounds you need to hear, like your own phone, people asking you questions, or conceivanly, a fire alarm.

Take a walkman/mp3 player to work with you! Put the headphones on
