just wondering asin noise reduction. im sure i saw something on location location location or something!

No it isn't. There have been a number of complaints about bare flor upboards up the stair from the people beleo beacuse of the noise. In such cases the local authorties noise abatement officer can measure for xcessive noise and issue an order tyhat it is reduced, this may mean covering the floor or simply taking of shoes and not jumping about up stairs.

I think you have to have some kind of insulation under the floorboards to reduce noise level, as the Scottish flats/tenements are not very suitable for just floorboards, might have to get the laminate flooring on top of floorboards that should reduce noise level

Check your management agreement or your lease. It is usually against the conditions because of noise transference. Carpet is usually prefered as it absorbes the noise. Laminate flooring and ceramic floor tiles are often excluded too.

that would be daft, what aboot all the beautiful old buildings that need to be preserved in their origional style (ie. no carpets).
