every old woman i've ever known has disliked animals--especially indoor pets. what are you're thoughts??

I always thought they liked having pets. You always see pictures of little old ladies holding a cat or birds. I have never known any older person to dislike indoor animals. They even have that group that goes to nursing homes with the animals. They let them hold and pet them, this seems to make them happy. I am surprised.

They smell bad, the dander causes health complications, the hair shedding all over creating more work. The picking up and disposing of feces, the bathing and general care of the animal, which no one seems to know or remember to do. More often than not, especially dogs will have accidents in the house, or the woman is pretty much left with the duty of ruining her day just to take care of this animal the man wanted to keep there, often times dogs will usurp attention from the man who she's wanting the attention from.

I know many old women who love indoor pets. There are some who don't like them. I think the reason is because they probably grew up not having one at home (cute small dogs back then were probably not that common and expensive, and they didn't' used to have fresh steps that made it possible for people to have cats and fresh smelling house at the same time). When you are older, you are set in your own way.

I am 51 years old, a lady friend of mine is 62 another 58 and we not only all have pets but love them dearly. I have a dog that is part of our family. It in my opinion is not that older ladies do not like pets; ask the ladies your talking to if they ever liked pets or pets indoors. You more than not will find they did not like pets or house pets when they were younger either.

The older they get the harder it is to take care of pets which need walks, cleaning up after, baths and visits to the vet. It is hard work let alone costs money. Old women do not have income and need to conserve whatever money they have. They can't afford pets.

I don't think this is a scientific fact. The stereotype is actually of an old woman living alone with a dozen cats. So maybe you are just meeting an unusual group of older women.

@Skylark: I hate texting too. nicely, not hate for sure, yet I dislike it. i bump into it fairly extraordinary that when human beings are bored they textual content. Harden up. - I hate tattoos and cigarettes. they are both disgusting. - those who not in any respect verify with you in authentic life, yet for some reason randomly verify with you on line. it is only annoying. - persons that were going out for - what? 3 days? And swear they are in love. Ugh! - undesirable grammar. era. - 8yr olds with fb, phones and iPods. - persons that say ''F/uck the police.'' howdy, extremely of putting forward ''F/uck the police'' how about you really stop breaking the regulation, retard! - Kevin Rudd. Douchebag. - Rivers commercials.... *shivers* - Untangling earphones. how in the global do they get so knotted up contained in the first position? only to call some... sure, that's regularly occurring to get aggravated through issues that do not have a tendency to annoy every person else. it is aside of who we are as a individual.

They are senile, and keep forgetting to feed their 20 cats and clean their liter boxes. They hate pets because they are always dying and smell bad....

It is not a dislike of animals.
They have just reached a stage in their lives where they don't want the responsibility of looking after anything else.
