i agree totally - How many police are there in any provincial town cenre on a friday night breaking up fights outside Wetherspoons (or any other pub chain - i'm not getting at them specifically)... Now go to the edge-of-town club (Or Garlands/G-Bar/Cream in Liverpool) and see the people hugging (teehee) and the distinct lack of police presence. here's no need for the police there!!!... Also - look up a book called Cannabis Britannia (can't remember the author) - you may be interested to learn that the UK government, during Indian Imperial Rule, made a vast amount of money from the Cannabis trade - it was Chinese and US pressure that caused the legislation against it.
Oh and on the issue of 'gateway' drugs. Rubbish. There is absolutely no Empirical connection between recreation drug use and hard drug addiction (Heroine etc).

The reason there is such a large death rate due to alcohol, is to the fact that it is legal. The same thing goes for the legal cigarettes. To lessen the confusion of the cause of actual death, most deaths are dubbed alcohol related not really knowing cause of death (which could have been another intoxicant). Who is to say cannabis is not a contributing factor in tobacco related deaths? Do you smoke your joint or bong with a filter? I am sure that most people that smoke cannabis also smoke cigarettes, but you will never see the cause of death if they only smoke cannabis to be on their death certificate stated as a cannabis related death.

I think you're right but then the do-good brigade will have you believe that cannabis smokers all go on to take heroin and die. I've never understood the law in this respect - just look at the people smoking cannabis - all chilled and those drinking alcohol - smashing the streets up. I know which I'd prefer xx

If the Government were to regulate the legal sale of Pot couldn't we pay down the national debt everyone is so worried about? it could have the same laws as Alcohol, maybe it wouldn't work but it's a thought.

I don't know but I assume it has something to do with cannabis unknowns for example mental illness and it takes time to make something legal when it is illegal. Also I have never got the tobacco excuse, most people smoke cannabis with tobacco.

I think legalizing alcohol was a big indicator of what people do who legal brain altering substances. And since people can't be responsible with that, they won't be anymore responsible with any other drugs. And they could tax itr, if they wanted. And yes, 14 deaths were linked to a train operator who didn't switch tracks, right after smoking a joint.

If pot was legal, it would be taxed, it would be cleaner, and safer if it was regulated. One day it will be legal. I don't do it, but as far as drugs go, there are far worse things out there. XTC should never be legal.
