Oh hell no!!!!! There is a place here in Michigan that's like that. and even worse stuff has been implemented concerning health and weight.
I think that any company that tries that should be sued in the highest of courts. NO ONE repeat NO ONE has the right to tell anyone what to do in the comfort of ones own home. Especially a employer!

Even though I think smoking is bad for you, I don't believe an employer has that right.....as long as the employee doesn't show up at work smelling like a nightclub they have the right to smoke at home, in their car, wherever they want.

I think employers should be free to say "we're not going to hire anybody who smokes, even outside of work".
Then all the smokers, their friends, their families, and their fellow smokers should be free to say "we're going to work for your competitor, and we're boycotting your product".
The same goes for gays, blacks, or pretty much anyone else.
In this kind of scenario, the smart employers will hire anyone so long as their vices (drugs, alcohol, etc.) don't impair their performance at work. They'll end up with the best talent and devoted employees. The other companies' owners will sleep well at night, however, knowing their people don't work hard, but they're all they could find who didn't smoke and were willing to be monitored -- and who wants to make all that money anyway?

No they do not have the right. What a person does in the privacy of their homes is their business, period. I mean they can say what happens on their property but they need to understand that smoking does not affect job preformance. Smoking is a hard habit to break. And for some people a need.

I agree the employer shouldn't be able to ban people from smoking in thier home. It kind of makes you want to laugh or cry when told that there is any freedom of thought at all don't you think

If they want to ban smoking at the work place that is fine. But telling someone they can't smoke outside if work is stupid.

Sounds kind of like BIG BROTHER is creeping into our daily lives, now. RESIST!!! Your Employer has NO rights over you... He can't even force you to go to work if you don't feel like it. I think this is how revolutions get started...

No they don't, unless they provide your housing as part of your job wages.
Some farm jobs give you a house to live in while you work there and yes they have that right as it is still there house.
