I would like to create an online meeting place within our group. Which one is simplest? Forum, Blog or Messenger?
Tks,

Forum: A feature of online services and bulletin boards that allows subscribers to post messages for others to read, and to reply to messages posted by other users.

Blog: Refers to a list of journal entries posted on a Web page. Anybody who knows how to create and publish a Web page can publish their own blog. Some Web hosts have made it even easier by creating an interface where users can simply type a text entry and hit "publish" to publish their blog. Because of the simplicity of creating a blog, many people (often young kids and adults) have found a new presence on the Web.

Messenger: An application that allows real-time conversations over the Internet between two users. For example, MSN Messenger.

In your situation, blog is NOT recommended for creating an online meeting place. Of course, messenger of the simplest but forum might be tidy than messenger. If your group have only less than 10 person than messenger can be used but if you said your group have quite a number of member than forum is recommended.

An Internet forum is a web application which provides for discussion, often in conjunction with online communities. Older forums date back to around 1996, following the newsgroups and bulletin board systems which were widespread in the 1980s and 1990s. Popular discussion topics include technology, computer games, and politics, but forums are available for any number of different topics.

A blog is a website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order.
Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. Most blogs are primarily textual although some focus on photographs (photoblog), videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting), and are part of a wider network of social media.

FORUM---an assembly, meeting place, television program, etc., for the discussion of questions of public interest.
BLOG---an online diary; a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page; also called Weblog, Web log

so my suggestion is to create a forum if you want an online meeting place.

good luck

virtual conference room.... oops not one of your choices. Or private "chat room"

It's not easy to get everyone working on a project in the office all together. Factor in off-site colleagues, partners, suppliers, clients and consultants, you can appreciate the value of an Internet-based collaboration system such as Documentum's eRoom.net. The latest version, eRoom.net 7, promises more powerful project management features and pricing that better suits the budgets and needs of small businesses.

A hosted, subscription-based service, eRoom.net provides a virtual workplace so that people at different locations can logon from any computer and work together. You can customize the flexible, feature-rich workspaces (eRooms) for specific projects and processes, capture all project content and create a record of issues, resolutions and decisions in a secure area.

According to the company, eRoom.net supports processes such as new product development, contract negotiations, client engagement, supply chain management and more. It requires minimal training or overhead support and companies don't have to invest in hardware and IT staffing. eRoom is also available in a customizable, non-hosted system for larger organizations.

blog is one person writing whatever they want. a forum is where many people can post responses to specific questions or post their own topic. Forum is simplest and also a way for everyone to be heard and read by everyone.

A blog is a page set up by someone who thinks they know everything and you should listen to them or you are a sub human. forums are for conversations.
