Were you sitting when you put it in? If so try standing with one foot raised up on the bathtub or the toilet. When I have my cycle, sometimes it hurts to put it in with my left foot up, sometimes it hurts with my right foot up...I don't know why exactly.
When you wear a tampon, you should not even feel it...yours is in wrong...take it out and try inserting in different position with a fresh new one. Also, make sure that your fingers are touching your body before pushing the small tube inside the larger one...this will insure that it reaches the correct place.
You will find over time the "right" way to insert it, and that tampons are much more comfortable than pads. Also, you'll feel a little more comfortable, and not constantly reminded of your period everytime you stand up, or lift something a little heavy. With that freedom though comes risk...be sure to read and watch out for the signs of TSS, it's very rare, but you'll never know if you're one who will get that.
Good luck.

It shouldnt feel uncomfortable at all. It shouldnt even be felt. You didnt put it in far enough. Take it out or youll be leaking soon. Push it in until the both of the two tubes meet each other. They should be even and at that point you know the whole thing is inside.

Yes, it is supposed to feel uncomfortable. The first time I used one, it broke my hymen so it HURT! It shouldn't really feel like it's going to fall out, though--check to make sure it is all the way in, with only the string hanging out.
You will adjust after the first few times. Don't worry.

OK you know your tampon is in when you can't feel it much it sounds like you need to push it up more, about the length of your index finger, give it another try like i said you shouldn't be able to feel it as much!

You shouldn't be able to feel it. You may need to push in more.
Good luck.
