i personally feel flash in the pan really. We have had on major wars and no great revolutions or technological advances such as bronze/iron age man or the industrial revolution. i wonder what we will be remembered for as a generation, and a worldwide culture?

Mankind has made such a significant fingerprint on our planet that we will never be forgotten. We have built permanent homes, created machines and (unfortunately) polluted our planet. The dinosaurs were big. that's all, and they have not been forgotten by us.
If we were made extinct tomorrow, then the next intelligent species to develop on Earth would probably find our remains and start studying us.
We will never be forgotten, we've changed this planet far too much to be forgotten.
Me personally, I do an important job that could potentially change countries (Military service) and so I feel I am significant.

I feel significant to a couple of people (my family), but other than that, no, quite the opposite. I have begun to notice over the last couple of years that I feel invisible to others, people walk right into me without so much as an excuse me, if going through a door second the person ahead lets it slam in my face rather than hold it, things like that. Maybe they are all in their own little worlds, I don't know, but there doesn't seem to be any courtesy for others at all.

looking at the big picture ... no it makes no big difference if i exist or not... looking at the smaller picture... absolutely it makes a difference... being a mother of 3 children and a soon to be wife.. yes it makes a difference... also I believe that you leave a mark in someones world even if it's just a small encounter... so keeping my preception inside of the box... I do leave a lasting footprint... and most of all to the people that are the closest to me.

Well apparently, as new PC culture states, I am no longer my girlfriends partner but her significant other, so whatever ... at least I am significant.
In the grand scheme of things, we can only do our bit, we cannot change the world and its natural evolution. Like a wave we can but only enjoy the ride.
We are the Internet generation. As for what else we will be tagged for, only time will tell.

When I listen to our leaders making stupid laws and telling us we must do this and that because Europe has decreed it,
I feel totally insignificant
Until Its Election Time and they need our votes to stay in power,
Thats the only time we are significant.

Yes, everyone should and should be reminded of it constantly. We are nothing in the vast and infinite expanses of space. Nothing we do really matters. We do not matter in the universal stage.....however, i am sure there are other species out there that do....

I may be significant to others, because i am a part of their world.
I dont feel significant for myself, purely because i dont respect myself. Everything i do, is done to please others (in some way).
Is this a case of Altruism? Or Self-Neglect?
