I want to buy a laptop in the 700-800 dollars price range. Could any one give any suggestions? Preferably, it should have a 14 inch screen with at least 60 gb of memory and a decent battery life.
P.S. It would be appreciated if you could list the pros and cons of the laptop you are describing.

This is the laptop I use
Gateway 4540GZ Notebook
Now this is in the low 1,000 if it's used. But this thing can last a LONG time! I have dropped it,smashed it,pored water on it and it still acts almost like new. All by accident off course. It's Internet capable. Tons of memory. And can create DVDs and C.D. and can record T.V. if you have the cable adapter. Tons of cool features. But here's a site for reviews and free downloads of almost anything you need. This is the link to the laptop review page.

Or go to www.cnet.com if you want to surf around the site.

Dell or Acer laptops are good, but don't get IBM Think Pads because the IBMs are not reliable even the Windows XP ones. Acer laptops can be bought at The Souce By Circuit City for a low price.

I favor acer laptops.

My roomate has a dell that supposedly has the same exact compaonents but it scored significantly lower in 3dmark, and its visibly slower. The dell is also very visibly lower quality parts, and feels hollow and fragile. My acer works very well, and It has everything Ill ever use, and its very thin and very good looking.

Im assuming you dont game, so Im going to post a link to the cheaper version of the laptop I have, but it doesnt have the gaming graphics card.

There are far too many options to list here, however I would suggest you head over to notebookreview.com. You can search by price range over on the right hand side of the page.
