yahoo answers, emails, sometimes if we are real slow I will bring in a magazine or book.

Normally there is an office policy listing the things you can or can not do, most companies don't allow web surfing. If you happen to work for one of those companies please be careful because they have ways of knowing if you're spending time Internet Surfing. Why not just let your supervisor know that your current assignment is complete and ask if there is something else you can do. At least you have covered yourself before you indulge in something that can cause you trouble if you get caught. Also it could mean you have gotten complacent with your position and need something more challenging.

that's pretty much what i do also. i'm working a temp job right now and they told us we could browse the internet during down time. we're in a call center and it's pretty slow. there's nothing else for us to do.

Try and clean up the mess on my desk. Make an attempt at orginization. This is easier said than done, since people are putting things on my desk all day long for me to go over.

Practice the more difficult aspects of my job, practice a program I'm not familiar with. The time belongs to the company, so I try to benefit the company. Sometimes, I do it with my eyes closed lol.
