I quit college when back when I was 21, I’m 24, and I still don’t think I should go back to college. Now, even my parents have gotten used to the idea I can’t afford to go to college.
It was because of the show The Apprentice I was sure I made the right decision, looking at how people with just high-school degrees where more clever and sometimes more successful than Ivy Leaguers. I’ve been working real hard. I’ve been jumping from company to company going to the one that offers me more money. I’ve worked 3 full time jobs and about 18 part time jobs on these 3 years, buying and reselling stuff as on my spare time, and having 1 or 2 part-time jobs one the side. Right now, just on my full time job, I’m making more money than most college graduates my age, and most 30 year olds in my company. I’ve saved for 3 years. Now I have enough money to start my own business. I need to put all my efforts on this new business, and college just seems like a BIG waste of my time just as it did 3 years ago.

Does anyone think I should go back to college, or keep on with my plan of having a business, and getting some passive income, and then when I’m about 30 finish college just to have a college degree.

Short answer, no...

Long Answer: I am a college graduate, having done the traditional after-high-school approach. I have been in the market place for many years so here is my opinion, for what it is worth.

COllege is not for everyone. Some people should NOT go, only because their head is not in the right place to learn and utilize the knowledge to "learn how to learn". What that means is something you already know. Hard work, perserverance, and theh ability to learn are the keys to success. The college degree is an evidence of that, but not a guarantee. There are many educated derilicts in the world, many from ivy league where the degrees have essentially been purchased with little demand for performance. The party school is almost considered a right of passage, and I think it is a disgrace to all that did it the right way.

As a person who interviews people for hire, I know that a college degree will be a proof of study, and I admire some schools over others for their ability to turn out good candidates. BUT, the ones with work experience are highly prized, degree or not.

SO, FOR YOU..
- If you need an entry level job- get a degree ...YOU specifically don;t need it for this
- If you need the education for a particular skill in business, engineering, healthcare- get a degree....YOU do not need it for your own businesss, but it could help you grow. A good book or partner could help also
- .If you need to have a need to compete in the workplace for promotion in the future - the degree will be an asset for promotion in many areas - YOU may need it, but not for your own business
- If you need the sense of self accomplishment - the degree is a source of pride- clearly, YOU don;t need it.

If you still want one, night school is always available. NOBODY questions whether you partied with the frat boys all day or worked your @ss off at night plus day.

The degree can be an asset to a better paycheck, in general...but some have been successful without it. Bill Gates is a college dropout for instance. I do notice that you are working very hard to be successful...will you need to do that all your life? A degree may allow an income without 18 hour days eventually

Sounds like your head is on straight, enjoy your life and don't worry about what others think. Your parents understand the conventional wisdom of college degree = success....The problem is, that is not conventional wisom anymore. DO they want the degree for their pride or for yours?

College isn't just about what jobs and money. I feel that what I learned totally changed my perspective by giving me more tools with which to view the world. As a business leader you will be better prepared to deal with the challenges that lie ahead if you go to college. Check out what courses are offered in a business degree and truly ask yourself if you have all of those skills now.

By the way, I worked my way through by working at a university which allowed me to take free classes as a benefit of working full time, yet I was totally broke. It wasn't easy, but I was overjoyed and felt such a sense of accomplishment when I graduated!

It's totally up to you. If you want more out of life go to college! But without college you can definately make a good living and live a fulfilling life. Really college isn't for everyone. I hope everyone's input will help you decide.

Good luck!

The reason for college is so you can learn a trade get a good job and make lots of money. If you are already making lots of money why go to college? You can take single classes if there is something you need to learn about and still keep your job.

One area of caution, statistics say that it takes a new company about five years to start showing a profit, it also states that for the first two years the company will be in debt. So don't start a company if you can't wait that long to see a profit.

confident there some faculties in which you would be able to take those styles of instructions, yet they're usually the community college ones. 4 365 days college ones require a variety, possibly money to persist with, and essays. I had taken a cake adorning classification as quickly as at a community college. And confident, I did meet my significant different at school. It became into our freshman 365 days at Michigan State college. we are meant for one extra!

If it seems a big waste of time then it will be. To succeed at anything requires motivation. Put your energy where your motivation to succeed is greatest whether it be college or business.
