I think they would be shocked and horrified. They would never have approved of such a thing and would consider it some sort of blasphemy. To do such a ling would be to interefere with the body's soul in the afterlife.

what is being preserved nowadays takes into considaration the fact that these people although long time dead do deserve respect. in the anciant egyptian funerary belief, the celebration of the cult of the deceased was a priority and needed to sustain life in the otherworld. being on display in a nice fancy museum must be a real privilege, especially considering that hundreds of their contemporaries were thrown into the boilers of steam trains.

Actually I doubt they'd mind too much, as most mummies that are displayed in museums are displayed with their original grave goods and therefore have everything needed for the afterlife.

Considering the efforts they went to to put people off plundering the graves of the dead (promises of curses etc) I would imagine they'd be a little upset.
Imagine it was you...

How can we tell how they would feel - they might be extremely upset or, in some way, pleased that by displaying the bodies we can learn about them, how their life was etc.

I really don't they would be very amused as their tombs were never supposed to moved or opened. They believed they needed their possessions and tombs with their bodies to take to the afterlife.

I really don't think they would be too happy about it ! They were buried in pyramids for a reason, that being not to be disturbed! How would you like someone digging up your granny ?

Well, since they buried them, I don't think they were expecting or even wanting them dug up. Sometimes I don't understand archaeologist's and their love of the dead.
They would probably be pissed.

Hmmm - well, the afterlife never did arrive, did it? So they wouldn't know.
And at least when we're standing there gawping at the riches, we're sort of worshipping them, aren't we?
