To make the big leagues means that you have reached the pinnacle of your chosen endeavor. You have reached the top.
This term alludes to professional baseball which has several different levels of minor league teams. When a player gets called up to the big leagues (sometimes called the show or just the bigs) this signifies he has "made it". He's not in Kansas any longer. He is in the big leagues.

it means that you have been doing something, and you do really well and you are promoted, or you compete with people that are very good at what ever it is your doing. it can be used for a lot of things.
