Unless someone knows how I can attach it to a question I'll have to hum it. It goes sort of "ta di dum (pause) tum tum ti da dum (pause) tum tum ti da, dit da daa di diddle dum di dum di daa daa..." And so on. I think it might be Bach.

I know, it's gonna bug you too, eh?

If you think its Bach, I'll just name a few famous songs by Bach then. Here it goes:

-Sheep May Safely Graze
-Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
-Air on the G string
-Arioso
-Prelude in C major
-Mussette in D major
-Minuet in G major
-Arioso
-Overture No.2 In Bminor Badinerie

I tried, your question is hard to answer when we can't here what you are humming. Eventhough you typed your hum, it is still difficult to understand. I gave you some songs, try listening to them and see if any of these songs match. But I can guarantee you that these songs that I have just given you are wonderful, soothing songs. Hope I helped a bit.

Is it JS Bach's Bouree? The rock band Jethro Tull did a jazz version of it in the early 70's and it occasionally gets radio play. I think it is amongst Bach's most famous works.

you are going to have to phone up classic fm or somewhere and hum it to them live - I can think of about 6 or 8 tunes that match the above, and they are probably all wrong! sorry.
