A big problem with Iraq, is it a lose-lose situation. We stay, we kill more Iraqis and more American and coalition troops and still have a mess. We leave, they have a bigger civil war than they have now.
Really, I would like to see Bush and the Democrats come to some agreement about what to do there. They always want to play the blame game and the blame game, while fun for politicians, is deadly for our troops and the Iraqi population.

Well that's an optimistic view if you're a Republican. Twisted but optimistic.
Leaving Iraq is the only option left. The rest of the world supports this position as well. The Iraqis don't want us there and we're not securing anything by being there. Bodies pile up daily at a faster rate than the preceding weeks. The only question left is how fast to pull out.

yes, they could lose. I think that both parties have to prove themselves in order to sway the independent vote. They are all on probation. Although the dems winning was a referendum on Bush, he won't be running again, so they will have to either have a platform, or get something positive done in the next twp years, And the reps will have to put up a moderate who has no ties to Bush.

No it will not benefit the Republicans. People didnt as much vote for Democrats as they voted against Republicans. Democrats have two years to pull it together and do something worthwhile. They have just two years to prove themselves to the American people and hopefully they can do it.
They should for the next 6 months send more troops, as many as they can to get these crazies under control. They need more to get the job done, get them in control, get them in line, get them to listen, lay it out for them, you need to do this this and this before we leave, now you control these insurgents and tell them to knock it off or we will never leave. Just try to work with them and over the next 6 months pull back out to show that you mean it.
There is always going to be terrorism and as long as we are stuck there the terrorists will flock to the aread because it is a way to kill Americans.

That don't help. Same dilemma. They can force a change to better train Iraq troops. I think the word is competence. Can the US do the job at all?

I rather doubt the heat we will get from the middle east for leaving Iraq will be remotely as much heat as we get for being there now. Virtually all Iraqi's consider us unwelcome foriegners, and most consider us invaders. They have a history of being occupied by others, they don't want us there.
Our only goal should be getting out without having created a terrorist breeding ground.

even as it isn't conceivable to understand the outcome, i imagine republicans will take the residing house and at a minimum close the hollow contained in the senate to the point the position democrats will be compelled to flow throughout party lines. it really is that if the republicans do not take the senate too.
