I am learning English, and I used a piece of iron, it is round in shape, like that which is in the wire (the yellow one-made of copper) but this one is thicker. what is it called in english? i was going to call it wire, but wire is the one that has the plastic covering outside. this is without plastic

It may still be called wire the fact that it has insulation (the plastic) does not determine if it is a wire or not. A wire would normally be used to conduct or connect something. The wire in most cases would have some bending ability.
Another name may be a rod. The dimension of a "rod" could still be small but the rod will not be flexible like a wire would be.
The name may be dependent on the use of the object and that may make it unclear as far as it having an absolute name.
The people who are saying cable because of the plastic coating are incorrect. In most cases cable is made up of many strands of wire twisted together or cable is also used to define coaxial wire that is used to transfer high frequency data (TV, radar, etc.).

Without more descriptions hard to say, but WIRE would apply or metal.
For example a wire clothes hangar as opposed to a plastic one. Wire ones work well for opening car doors because they stay in the shape you bend them into.

If it has a plastic covering its a cable, you are probably describing a wire, any metal that isn't covered.

we have different languages, my languages is Chabacano it's similar in spanish. We are not perfect even thou american cannot speak correctly. You should always bring a English dictionary so that if you find a word that is not familliar with you, use dictionary and study the parts of the english, the correct usage of english

I think by your description of the colour being yellow, it sound like brass, as copper is reddish,brass rod used for weldiing,or soldering plumbing joints,Hope that helps.
