George Bush is by no means a Democrat... he is the new Republican standard. McCain is very much a Republican, just not one in the pocket of the social conservatives. Hagel is a Republican populist, a lot like McCain. Specter is a North East Republican, socially liberal, fiscally conservative.

The President is a neoconservative, and the three Senators are moderates. It's tempting to say that moderates are really part of the other party (on both sides), but if your party consists only of hard-liners, you're not going to win many elections.
