A friend told me that i can use a four port router for my pc's and not using a hub. comp1 connected to router via RJ-45 cable and comp 2 connect to router via RJ-45 cable. router connect to cable connection. will this work? he told me for faster connection, no need for the speed to be divided(if we use hub). i really need your advice..
My friend works in a call center and told me that they use this kind of stuffs. routers that cater 1-50 pc's.

No, you do not a hub if you have a router. Sounds like the setup you have is correct: Cable modem ->router -> computers 1 and 2.

your router has a 4 port hub built in. there was a time routers and hubs were seperate boxes, but they combined the two a couple of years ago. the only thing you'd need a hub for is if you want to connect more than 4 computers.

No.
A 4-port router acts as a hub.
You would use one port on your router as the "UpLink" port to the internet
(Usually a specific port on your router),
and then connect each of your PCs to a different port on the router.
There is some set-up involved on both sides, the internet side and the PC side,
And you will probably need to change some settings on your PCs as well.

Your Router Documentation will help out a LOT.
If you don't still have it, search on-line.
