Yeah. Fortunately for me, I never lose sleep over folks like that...they usually tell on themselves over a bit of time. People discover how mean they are and then drop them like a bad habit. It's their problem, not yours, so don't worry about it. Time has a way of righting all the wrongs.

Yes. When I was 18 at my first job. The soon to be boss gave me a look that said I don't like you and he made my life miserable for many years to come. I never got a pat on the back for a job well done and only got complaints from him when I had to work with him. Fortunately they rotated bosses at this factory. Later he caused me to quit,I went on to get a career, became very successful, retired at 38 and now he is probably dead. Good riddance.

I know why this happens...
When you meet people, first impressions last. Your natural instinct contains whats known as a "Vibe", this is from your natural habits. your natural habits is developed from a young age where etiquette and manners are to be taught . if you lack it your intentions may be right but the other person may take offense to your actions even if your trying to be nice. sometimes take a real good look at your actions and take notice of what you do, because people who have manners and etiquette can tell people who don't, but people who have Little or lack manners and etiquette cant see or understand. this is what makes people a good judge of character if you know the polite thing to do, its not a persons fault if they lack manners (and it can be easily taught), but it is the fault of the parents, people are often left confused and frustrated in their because they don't understand why people treat them improperly, the first way to realize if you have bad manners is look and listen to yourself when ordering food then look at someone doing it politely.

yes, I have a step mother in law, who is that way, i did nothing to her, I have just learned to not talk with her about anyting "important" just stick to easy topics that won't start an argument. It is hard as my children really like their grandma and I cannot stand her.. I know how you feel even if I cannot get the words out right

Yep, I had the exact same thing happen to me. Generally, they're trying to impress their friends, plus they're totally insecure of themselves and need to bring someone down.
Just don't give in to them, and they'll look like the a$$hole.
