Hi. I am an RN and you can take these vitamins all you want. DO NOT take any other vitamins with them, they have enough of everything in them. Yes, they help your hair and nails grow. I have lots of friends that take them as there daily vitamin supplement. You might want to be careful of your iron levels, they are pretty high in iron due to 2people they were meant for but other than that they are safe.

Prenatal vitamins will not harm you even if you are not pregnant. There is nothing in there that isn't safe. The vitamins don't make your hair or nails grow. some women find that when they are pregnant that happens but not due to the vitamins. You need different things when you are not pregnant and so while the vitamins will not harm you -- it would be a good idea to talk to your doctor and find out what would help you specifically.

pre-natal vitamins are completely ok to take if you aren't pregnant. the difference between them and normal daily vitamins is just that pre-natals have more of certain parts, and some added stuff to help baby. they are in no way harmful, and in all reality, it's better to take something than nothing at all. they do help your hair and nails grow, as you have heard. go ahead and take them! you're not going to hurt anything.
(side note, walmart brand pre-natals are just as good as the expensive ones, and will save you a ton of money.)

Prenatal vitamins are perfectly fine to take even if you're not pregnant. You're right, they do make your hair and nails grow. They're chock full of wonderful vitamins and minerals that are great for your body, whether you're pregnant or not. Many women are instructed by their doctor to start taking them when they're just trying to get pregnant so that their body will be full of the good vitamins to support the pregnancy if it happens. I took my prenatals for months after I delivered all my girls, and I wasn't even breastfeeding. Don't sweat it. Just don't go off of them without eating a healthy diet cuz your body is used to getting those vitamins, and it will feel sluggish and you may be more susceptible to colds, flu etc. if you aren't eating healthy and not taking the prenatals.
+++Good Question, BTW++

Prenatal vitamins are good for women pregnant or not. They will promote in hair and nail growth but it may not be what you are expecting. It is not like they grow over night or anything. Any vitamin at any time is good for you prenatal vitamins are just high in folic acid then the regular everyday vitamin. Good Luck

nope.
But you are trying to use a sledge hammer to kill a gnat here. There is no reason to take a prenatal vitamin to make your hair and nails grow... Just go to the store and get some jello....Better yet get some jello, and some knoxx gelatin, and make knoxx blocks. They are yummy and they make your hair and nails grow like crazy. Eat them every day. You will get much better results.
Hope that helps.
OH... And NO you don't need any prescription for Vitamins... prenatal or otherwise...sheesh!!!

You shouldn't be harmed by taking the vitamins. but if you are going to take a vitamin and you are not pregnant maybe you should go with centrum vitamins. They contain the same nutrients. Also, try viactive calcium chews. Each chew contains 60 percent of your daily value of calcium and that is what makes strong bones, hair, and teeth.

Prenatal vitamins are really just regular vitamins with a little extra folic acid and iron, and sometimes not even that.
Look at the difference between the prenatals you want to take and a good quality multivitamin and you may find they are not worth the difference in price.

I took them and wasnt pregnant, and they did make my hair and nails grow and especially my nails were stronger. They aren't bad for you, but they did mess up my periods, I had finnally gotten to where they were regular, and when I was taking them, they were all over the place. I got off them, and periods returned to normal. If you want you hair and nails to grow, take the hair skin and nails vitamins, orlots of vitamin E. both really heped mine! Lots of hair dressers will sell vitamins in their shops too.

Are you trying to conceive? I take them right now and I'm not pregnant. I am trying to be though. I wouldn't think they would harm you but they have vitamins for women that are really benificial for you. And yes they do make your hair grow and strengthen your nails.
