Community College is actually a really good way to start for a lot of people. The Med School admissions people don't look at what school you went to, just that you've taken the right classes and have a drive for being a doctor. They want to look at your grades, and you life experience. Being in community college is never something to be ashamed of and it's always a good way to s tart out if you can't afford to go to an expensive school. Make sure though that the credits from community college transfer to the school after the fact, otherwise you're going to have a hard time

Yes, you can start at a community college, but your cousin will need to complete his pre-medical courses at a four-year college as most med schools do not accept them from community colleges. These courses are:
1 year regular chemistry
1 year organic chemistry
1 year physics
1 year biology
1 year Calculus
1 year English
You can probably get away with taking the Calculus and English at a community college if you do very well in the science courses at the four year college. The most important thing is that any courses taken at a community college REALLY need to end up with "A" grades. The reasoning for this is that if you get an A in a community college course there is no proof that you wouldn't have gotten an A in a 4 year college course. But if you get a B in a community college course that isn't quite the same as a B in a 4 year college course. And god forbid you get anything lower than that!
If your cousin has a specific medical school in mind, he or she should investigate their specific requirements. Check out http://www.studentdoctor.net -- there are links to books in which your cousin might be interested as well as excellent forums for pre-med students, med students, and residents.

Its better if your cousin does not go to community college first because when colleges look at see you went to a community college it makes them not want you. Your cousin would be best off going to a junior college first and then transfering into a four year college. Only because if he goes to a four year college to begin with he wont get the classes he wants. Well if you have any more questions about this feel free to ask. megan

It's an absolutely fine way to begin a college education in an affordable way. Don't listen to anyone else's comments about it not being aceptable -- they're WRONG! (I used to be an education counsellor).
Tell your cousin "Good Luck" in his/her pursuing higher education!
