Hey :

I think ,you are not able to go normal through you system , I mean its not able what ever you tried ,, it reboots it self ,, when your pc count and reboot ,,

well ,, frist put your windows cd ( xp ) in the CD rom , let your pc run ( boot ) from cd ... ( hit - delete , f2 or , f4 with list from where you wanna boot ) ,,

a sentace appears telling ( press any key to boot from CD ... ) do it ,, and wait till your system reads your pc's component ,

After that , a window appears with there option ,, choose the 2nd one which says ( press r to repair your windows ) this option allowed you to repair your system from DOS ,,

Then , follow the intro ,, it tells that which operating system you want , just put 1 ,,,, then this will show ( c:/windows ) or stuff ,,

here type help ,,, a long list which contains many orders ,, choose this one (((( chkdsk )))) ,,, remember it ,, then press space bar ,, then type ((( chkdsk ))) ,,,, your pc will repair itself ,,, if ,,, if ,,, if ,, chkdsk doesn't work ,, there are many option in chkdsk ,,, read it well plz ,,, then type ( exit ) and go to yours windows normally ,,

have a nice day ,,

This happens when your system is suddenly shut down either by hard booting it or by some programs/Applications. If you get this screen select the option which reads 'boot normally' and you won't get this next time. But do it only if you are sure your system is not virus infected. If it is then you are in a trouble.

Before you try and change any settings yourself you should turn it on and let it boot in safe mode, then shutdown the computer safely and turn it back on, many times Windows will fix the problem itself, if not, then use the system restore method that other people have described.

Also there is a possibility that your boot.ini file was modified to always boot in safe mode. You can edit the file directly (after removing the read only attribute) or from the system icon in Control Panel, advanced tab, startup and recovery.
You will have to remove the safemode switch. Search in help and on internet for more details.

i would go ahead and start in safe mode and the when you get to desktop, go to the system restore option start, programs, acessories, system tools then system restore....restore it back to a date you know it was working the way you wanted it to....hopefully that will solve you problem....good luck
